Anagrams is the new album by Andy Peggs on Ombrelle Concrète
Anagrams explores live improvisations, textures and melody across some eclectic electronic moments. It gathers elements of electronic music from decades past and reassembles them into a new release for 2022.
Anagrams fuses influences from the soundtracks of John Carpenter to the more sumptuous and melodic end of Thomas Leer, up to the Retro-Contemporary of synth wave. The likes of Visage and China Crisis are evoked in the gently ululating filter sweeps of Twigs. While Winter Light recalls the mellower moments of progressive house master Brian Transeau.
One of the standout tracks, Appetite, with its minimalist quasi-arpeggiations, is reminiscent of Steve Reich by way of Tangerine Dream.
Andy Peggs lives in North West England. His philosophy dictates a natural fragility, searching for unique, synthetic and fleeting moments of temporary order. An electronic musician, DJ and promoter. He still gets exciting searching for new sounds.
